PURPOSE:To obtain the titled silane useful as an intermediate for polysilane having a function of electrical conductor, etc., effectively utilizing unused resources, by carrying out disproportionation reaction of a specific silane in the presence of a Lewis acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective silane of formula, etc., can be produced by disproportionating (A) 1,1-dichloro-1,2,2-trimethyl-2-phenyldisilane in the presence of (B) a Lewis acid (e.g. aluminum chloride) in a solvent (e.g. hexane) or in the absence of solvent at 50-120 deg.C for 0.5-3hr and purifying the reaction product.
