A pass-through refrigerator for cooling moulded chocolate articles comprises at least three vertically stacking magazines (4, 5, 6) arranged adjacent one another, of which the central one is a lifting magazine 5 which can move vertically the height of one mould. Two of the magazines are always filled with moulds. Push rods (11, 12, 13) are associated with the magazines and are able to push a stack of moulds from one magazine into an adjacent one. Incoming moulds enter the refrigerator via a loading table (1) and start at the base of a first stack of moulds. As the stack is moved back and forth between the magazines it gradually moves towards the top. It is then transferred to the top of an adjacent second stack. From there, it makes its way gradually down the second stack to a delivery table (2) at its base. <IMAGE>
