PURPOSE:To permit easy and quick removal of a developer sticking to a coating blade by disposing a cleaning blade between the peripheral face of a developing roller under rotation and the coating blade in such a manner that the cleaning blade can intrude therebetween. CONSTITUTION:The developer on the peripheral face of the developing roller 13 under rotation is brought into pressurized contact with said face by the tip of the coating blade 15, by which the developer is formed to the layer of a prescribed thickness; in addition, the developer is triboelectrostatically charged and is conveyed toward a photosensitive drum 20. The developer cleaning blade 18 is provided movably forward and backward to the position retracted from the tip of the coating blade 15. This cleaning blade 18 is pushed into the spacing between the coating blade 15 and the developing roller 13 along the coating blade 15 in the case of executing maintenance, etc. The developer sticking to the tip of the coating blade 15 is thereby brought into contact with the tip of the cleaning blade 18 and is removed downward. |
