The invention describes a body tanning device comprising a plurality of UV radiators and venting devices that are controlled by a microprocessor unit and are monitored in terms of operating time. The operating times for a tanning cycle and for service cycles are predetermined via an input means arranged on the housing of the device. In conjunction with a clock, the microprocessor unit determines the relevant times and effects a display of the corresponding data that can be perceived by the user or by the service staff. All essential structural units, e.g. radiators and venting devices, are controlled by the microprocessor unit after evaluation of the control signals scanned by the input unit with consideration of the predetermined operating times stored in a battery-buffered memory.
