A tool-changing device for a machine tool, with a toolholder which can be slipped by means of a receiving bore onto a shank of a toolholder receptacle. To simplify the chucking operation, oblique clamping faces are provided in the wall of the receiving bore, and a clamping slide having oblique clamping faces is arranged in a longitudinal channel of the shank, so that, as a result of a displacement of the clamping slide, balls guided in transverse bores of the shank can be urged radially outwards up against the oblique clamping faces provided on the toolholder and are thereby braced against one another stop faces located on the toolholder and on the toolholder receptacle.
