PURPOSE:To easily correspond the original surface of an original to the focal point of a read head, by carrying an original tray inserted from an insertion opening as being brought into pressurizing contact with the guide plane of a guide rail. CONSTITUTION:The original tray 9 inserted from the insertion opening 10 is brought into pressurized contact with the guide plane of the guide rail 12, and the original surface of the original held with the original tray 9 is set at the focal point position of the read head 2. Thereby, it is possible to solve a problem of discrepancy between the focal point of the read head 2 and the original surface of the original due to shaking at the time of carrying the original tray 9 even when the focal point range of the read head is narrow. Also, only an operation at the front part of a housing 1 such that the original tray 9 is inserted into or ejected from the insertion opening 10 is enough, thereby, superior operability can be obtained.
