PURPOSE:To allow the operator to record and output data accurately and simply by displaying a recording size of data subject to memory deputy reception in the case of memory deputy reception. CONSTITUTION:A DIS is an initial identification signal issued by a receiver side and a DCS is a reception instruction signal issued by a sender side. In receiving the content of DCS, which of received pictures A4, A3, B4 is detected just before picture reception. A system control section 2 decodes the informed DCS to decide whether the sent picture is A4, A3 or B4 and allows the printer 4 to inform the setting state of a cassette and the presence or absence of paper. Then, the paper size obtained from the DCS and the obtained recording paper size information are compared and when they are coincident, the write of a received picture onto a picture memory 3 is instructed to a communication control section 1 and when the end of write is informed from the communication control section 1, the picture read/print out from the picture memory 3 is instructed. Thus, the recording is attained accurately and simply.
