To sum up, the invention describes a silencer for internal combustion engines, which is surprisingly characterised in that its outer casing is composed of plastic. A silencer which is cost-effective to manufacture is thereby described, which compared to the known silencers is significantly lighter in weight and is not susceptible to corrosion problems, that is its service life is far superior to conventional silencers.
