PURPOSE:To form an easy-to-handle sensor fiber and to permit detection of a very small object as well by forming said fiber into multi-layered structure in which a primary core layer and secondary core layer are concentrically disposed via a clad layer. CONSTITUTION:The primary core layer 4 is provided on the outside of a primary core 3 and the secondary core layer 5 thereon, and further the secondary core layer 6 thereon, respectively concentrically. Detection of the object by using this sensor fiber is executed by first introducing light into the primary core 3 of the sensor fiber, releasing said light from the front end of the core 3, casting the light to the object to be detected, receiving the light reflected by said object or the response light of the light emitted by said object and released therefrom in the secondary core layer 5, transmitting the light through the core layer 5 and detecting the transmitted light. |
