Organic condensation reactions which use phosphate catalysts are improved by using catalysts of pyrophosphates, mono- and/or di-hydrogenphosphates of Sr, Cu, Mg, Ca, Ba, Zn, La, Al, Co, Ni, Ce and/or Nd which are pref. associated with SiO2, Al2O3 or SiO2-Al2O3 carriers.The catalysts are used in reactions which eliminate water or ammonia and also in cyclisation reactions. In particular, their use is claimed in the prodn.of triethylenediamine from (crude) hydroxyethylpiperazine, N-aminoethylpiperazine or ethanol amines, and in the prodn. of (alkyl)morpholine or dimethylaminoethylmorpholine in the presence of water. The prodn. of a morpholine is pref. also carried out under an inert gas. (36pp) |
