Air filter for an internal combustion engine

In order to make an air filter of an internal combustion engine easy to service, excessively frequent changing of the filter should be avoided and it should be possible to change the filter quickly and in a simple manner. The untreated airstream passed into the bottom part of the filter housing is deflected upwards through 90@ before it passes into the filter insert which centres and seals off the top part relative to the bottom part. After another deflection on the top part, the cleaned airstream enters a central bore with a nozzle-shaped inlet in the filter insert and flows out to the internal combustion engine at the bottom of the air filter. The filter insert, which contains two filter plates, centres the top part of the filter housing relative to the bottom part and seals them off relative to one another.
