An apparatus for the intermittent movement of machinable workpieces from one machining station to an adjacent machining station by means of a turntable and gripping devices arranged on the turntable, receiving and conveying the workpieces and depositing them at the next position is to provide a solution which makes it possible by simple means to assign gripping devices adapted to the particular gripping conditions individually for each machining station, a simplified control and, in particular, a simplified design of the gripping device being made possible. This is achieved in that the turntable (2) is designed, after the grasping of the workpieces (6), to be rotatable about its axis of rotation only according to the arc dimension between two adjacent gripping devices, determined by the number of gripping devices (3) on the circumference, and, after the release of the gripping devices (3) from the respective workpieces (6), to be rotatable in reverse by the same dimension. <IMAGE>
