Polyamines are produced by hydrolyzing an isocyanate compound in the presence of at least one of a selected group of catalysts and a water miscible polar organic solvent in substantially homogeneous phase at 40 DEG -170 DEG C. The catalyst employed is selected from potassium hydroxide, rubidium hydroxide, cesium hydroxide, potassium alcoholates, rubidium alcoholates, cesium alcoholates, potassium carboxylates, rubidium carboxylates and cesium carboxylates. These polyamines are useful in the production of polyurethane(urea)s. |
