PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a panel of both a good color purity and a good opening rate by using a transparent material for a partition wall material at the part contacting to a substrate, and using an opaque partition wall material on the transparent partition wall, to form a double partition wall structure. CONSTITUTION:The first partition wall layer contacting to a transparent cover substrate 2 and having parts to melt together with the substrate 2 is transparent. Therefore, the radiation of a phosphor 8 which is attached to the inside of the partition wall passes through in the direction to the observer with no disturbance of the opaque material. In other words, the apertures of display cells to the observer side are large enough, and the display dots are never narrowed, improving the brightness. On the other hand, the ultraviolet rays of a large solid angle or almost parallel to the display surface are shielded by the opaque first and second partition walls 6 and 7 and a separator 4 made of an opaque material, rarely brighting other cells, and the display of a good contrast and a good color purity can be obtained.
