PURPOSE:To improve performance of a battery by setting content of zinc oxide in a negative electrode plate at 0.53 or under in weight percentage to the mass of active material in a positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode plate with active material mainly including hydroxide for which content of cobalt is 15-85wt.% to that of nickel and cobalt is combined with a negative electrode plate with active material mainly including zinc hydroxide and metal zinc. For this, content of zinc hydroxide in the negative electrode plate is set at 0.53 or under in weight perenage to the mass of active material in the positive electrode. With this, gas absorption is not caused in the negative electrode plate, nor water supplement or conditioning is required even if cycles of charge and discharge are repeated. In addition, rapid charge is possible, and control of charge becomes easy. |
