A system for testing a computer loaded with a software application program where a test-driver computer, with associated keyboard, is connected and programmed to act as a keyboard for the computer being tested, the test-driver also displaying keystroke identifying symbols or words which may be visually checked to determine keystroke accuracy, the keystroke signals also being recorded in a form suitable for recall for an automated testing procedure. The computer-under-test being programmed to provide handshaking protocol with the test-driver so that keystroke input to the computer-under-test is controlled in accordance with the operational requirements of the computer-under-test and wherein the resultant screen information can be transmitted to the test-driver for recording and/or comparison with a desired result.
