PURPOSE:To widen a range of printing by reducing the upper margin of paper, by method wherein after making a veil roller of a closed state by sucking paper, the paper is reversely fed until the top of the paper approaches the beil roller. CONSTITUTION:When a veil lever 12 is positioned at that of a chain line, a beil roller becomes of an open state. This state is detected by a switch 7 in which a first engaging part 14 enrages. A transfer means composed of a platen 2 and a tractor 1 is actuated taking this detection as a trigger, and the top of a paper 100 is made to pass the roller by a specific amount. When the lever 12 is positioned at that of a solid line, the roller 3 comes into a closed state. The engaging part 14 is separated from the switch 7 during that time, a second engaging part 15 engages in a switch 11, and a closed state of the roller 3 is detected by the second engaging part 15. The transfer means is actuated taking this detection as a trigger and the paper is reversely transferred until the top of the paper 100 approaches the beil roller 3. An upper end margin amount A of the paper becomes B thereby and range of printing is increased.
