PURPOSE:To obtain the uniform luminance of a fluorescent lamp eliminating the nonuniformity of luminance even when a reinforcing glass member is used by roughening the outer surface of the glass plate, the luminous surface of one of a pair of grass plates. CONSTITUTION:The upper and the lower surfaces of a reinforcing glass member 11 are positioned facing to uncoated portions 5, 6 of phosphor on the upper and the lower glass plates 1, 2 respectively, and a reflecting film 7 is produced on the outer surface of the glass plate 2 at a position corresponding to the uncoated position 6. Further the outer surface of the upper glass plate 1 is roughened. Therefore, if there is some difference in luminance between the portion corresponding to the reinforcing glass member 11 and the other portion on the outer surface of the upper glass plate 1 the boundary of the said portions is obscured. Thereby the nonuniformity of luminance of the luminous surface can be eliminated even when the reinforcing glass member is used.
