PURPOSE:To selectively remove the low-sp.gr. lipoprotein in the body fluid by forming the title adsorbent having a synthetic chain polymer having a carboxyl group and a sulfate or sulfonate group and having a specified range of mol.wt. on the surface of adsorbent, and using the adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:A carrier is activated, and covalent-bonded with the synthetic chain polymer having 5X10<3>-5X10<6>mol.wt. and having a carboxyl group and a sulfate or sulfonate group to form the low-sp.gr. lipoprotein adsorbent. The adsorbent has the synthetic chain polymer part having 5X10<3>-5X10<6>mol.wt. and having a carboxyl group and a sulfate or sulfonate group on the surface, and the ion exchange capacity is 1-300mueq/ml (wetting capacity). A cellulose- based gel, a dextran-based gel, etc., can be used as the carrier. Besides, the carrier is activated by a cyanogen halide method, an epichlorohydrine method, etc.
