PURPOSE:To make thermal expansion coefficient of the titled glass small and to enhance thermal conductivity thereof by adding specified amount of Nd2O3 to the phosphate-base laser glass contg. Al2O3, Nb2O5 and (MgO+CaO+SrO+ BaO) at specified amount. CONSTITUTION:The composition of phosphate-base laser glass is constituted by adding 0.1-5mol.% Nd2O3 to 100mol.% basic glass consisting of by mol.% 60-80 P2O5, 11-24 Al2O3, 0.2-2 Nb2O5 and 4-20 (MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO) as a base. The component of this basic glass is desirably regulated to by mol.% 0-20 MgO, 0-12 CaO, 0-6 SrO and 0-8 BaO. This laser glass is not cleaved by heat generated when oscillation is performed at high repeat. Further it has fluorescent service life enough to oscillate a laser and chemical durability and melt moldability are satisfied.
