PURPOSE:To obtain a stabilized high treating function by blowing air into the sewage in an aeration tank from the upper surface, intermittently operating an aerator for agitating the sewage, and continuously operating an agitator provided in the vicinity of the bottom to uniformly agitate the sewage in the tank and to blow air into the sewage. CONSTITUTION:Air is blown into the sewage in the aeration tank 1 from the upper surface, the aerator 2 for agitating sewage is provided in the aeration device, and the agitator 3 for agitating sewage is furnished in the vicinity of the bottom of the aeration tank 1. The aerator 2 is intermittently operated, and the agitator 3 is continuously operated. As a result, the sewage in the tank is uniformly agitated, air is blown into the sewage, and a stabilized high treating function can be obtained.
