<p>PURPOSE:To make the quantity of data for picture to be transmitted abundant so that the picture quality can be improve on a receiving side, by using a band assigned to sound transmission as a band for picture transmission when no sound is produced. CONSTITUTION:At a multiplexing section 6, a time slot '0' is used as the time slot for control data and, when control data from a sound detecting section are inserted into the time slot '0' and sounds are detected, sound codes from a sound coding section 5 are assigned to a time slot '1' and codes from a picture coding section 2 are assigned to time slots '2-6'. Thus multiplexed data are constituted. Upon receiving a control signal indicating that no sound is detected, the multiplexing section 6 assigns picture codes to the time slots '2-6' and, at the same time, the picture codes to the time slot '1' also. As a result, picture data are transmitted at a higher speed (or more data are transmitted).</p> |
