PURPOSE:To perform easy and precise machining of the spherical surfaces of rods having different sizes, by a method wherein a ring with a given size is engaged with the one end of a rod to form a spacer, and the rod is mounted to a V-groove and is positioned at a given angle. CONSTITUTION:A ring 8 with a given size is engaged with the upper one end of a rod 4 to form a spacer. The rod 4 is mounted in an inclined state in a V-groove 2 through the spacer 8. Thus, in even the rod 4 having a different size, the rod 4 can be provided with a spherical surface center coincided with an axis only by means of the size of the spacer 8 without changing the inclination of the V-groove, and only variation of the size of the spacer 8 enables easy and precise machining of the spherical surface of the rod having a different size.
