PURPOSE:To make the whole body of a case smaller in size so that the picture on recording paper can look upward, by providing thermal heads in parallel with each other beside an ink ribbon feeding and winding sections, which are arranged in the longitudinal direction, and feeding recording paper from the inside of the case to the side of the case after passing through the bottom side of the supplying and winding sections. CONSTITUTION:The feeding section (winding core) 28 and winding section (winding core) 29 of an ink ribbon 31 are arranged in the longitudinal direction and thermal heads 30 are provided in parallel with each other beside the feeding and winding sections. When the copying machine of this invention is operated with recording paper (a) being inserted from a paper feeding port 50 and its leading edge being put between a platen 46 and ink ribbon 31, the winding core 29 is rotated and the ink ribbon 31 is wound around the core 29 and the picture of an original is transferred to the recording paper (a) through the ink ribbon 31 by means of the thermal heads 30. After the transfer, the recording paper (a) is discharged from a paper discharging port 51 after passing through the bottom side of the winding cores 28 and 29 by the rotation of the platen 46. Therefore, the picture on the recording paper (a) looks upward and this transfer unit 26 can be made compacter when the winding cores are set closer to each other.
