PURPOSE:To enable observation in the high temp. reaction chamber without causing temp. drop by inserting a columnar body, smoothly finishing both end faces in transparent, into a hole penetrated on wall of the reaction chamber as a plug-state. CONSTITUTION:Raw chromium 2 in the reaction chamber 10 is heated from outside by a mantle furnace 1 at about 800-850 deg.C. An I2 gas is introduced in this reaction chamber 10 from an introducing pipe 6 and by reacting with the above chromium 2, gaseous CrI2 is generated. The CrI2 is decomposed on the electric heat filament 3 at about 1,300 deg.C and the metallic Cr having high purity is separated on the filament. In the pure metal producing apparatus by iodide decomposition process, the columnar observing window 16 composing of high silica glass, etc., is inserted as the plug-state in the hole penetrated on a heat insulating plate 4 and a floor plate 5, and both the end faces are smoothly finished end if necessary, the prism 7, etc., is arranged. By this method, solidification-sticking of the iodide, etc., caused by the temp. drop is prevented, and the temp., etc., of the above filament 3 can be continuously and accurately observed.
