PURPOSE:To keep the dimensions of a fluid film forming clearance in a stable state by providing a solidly formed body as a member to which a static pressure bearing is fixed and engaging a holder for the static pressure bearing with the member to fix the bearing. CONSTITUTION:A portal portion 12A of a slide member 12 has the upper portion and the side portions thereof solidly formed, and a lower plate portion 12C is joined to the portal portion 12A by bonding, a fixing screw or the like. A through hole 13 is bored in the thus constructed upper portion, side portions and connecting portion of the slide member 12, and a static pressure bearing pad 11 is mounted in the through hole 13. Accordingly, at least the portions forming the upper portion and the side portions of the slide member 12 to which the static pressure bearing pad 11 is solidly formed to be portal, so that the rigidity of the slide member 12 is increased to keep the dimensions of a fluid film forming clearance in a stable state.
