PURPOSE:To obtain an engine which runs smoothly and quietly by permitting a driving shaft to be turned by virtue of a rotating movement of pistons and cylinders themselves. CONSTITUTION:The opening end of a cylinder 3 is slided in a close contact with the internal wall of a cylindrical housing 1 so that the cylinder 3 is rotated centering around a driving shaft 2, to which the base 3a thereof is fixed. A fuel inlet 9, an ignition part 8 and an exhaust port 7, which are provided on the internal wall of the housing 1, are set in motion the moment the turning opening-end of the cylinder 3 reaches the position where they are placed, so that a piston 4 is activated. When the piston 4 is pressed in, a guide protrusion 5 provided on the piston 4 is also pressed in the centripetal direction. The guide protrusion 5, which puts its portion projected outwards from a longitudinal groove 11 on the turning cylinder base 3a in an annular cam-groove 6, circulates around the cam groove 6 while the piston 4 is making one reciprocating motion. Therefore, the piston 4 provided with the guide protrusion 5 and the cylinder 3 also turn for 360 deg. within the housing 1 so that the driving shaft 2, to which the cylinder base 3a is fixed, is caused to make one revolution. By fixing many pieces of cylinder base 3a to the driving shaft 2 in directions different from each other, a stable rotational drive can be obtained. |
