PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve the perpendicular orientation property of a crystal by incorporating B at 0.005-1.5atom.% into a thin Co-Cr film. CONSTITUTION:The perpendicular orientational property of the crystal is improved if an alloy is formed by incorporating B at 0.005-1.5atom.% into the thin Co-Cr film. The content of Co in the thin film is set at 40-85% and the content of Cr at 15-35%, by which the wear resistance, saturation magnetization and perpendicular anisotropy are improved. The additional improvement in the corrosion resistance is possible by incorporating at least one kind of transition elements of groups 4-6 of periodic table further into the thin film.
