PURPOSE:To obtain a bit of clear rugged face information by arranging a laser beam source on a vibrating means to finely vibrate the laser beam source. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam source irradiating a finger 12 through a transparent planar plate 11 is arranged on the vibrating means 21. The finger 12 brought into contact with a finger print input part of the transparent planar plate 11 is radiated by a laser beam 13a emitted from the laser beam source 13, its reflected light is fully and repeatedly reflected and extracted to the external through a hologram 14 and its image is picked up by an image pickup element 15. At that time, the laser beam source 13 is vibrated by the vibrating means 21 and the laser beam is dispersed on respective parts on the finger 12, so that optical interference is mutually offset and the influence of speckles is reduced. Thus, a clear finger print image can be obtained.
