PURPOSE:To obtain a stable information reading and writing method by controlling an stretched magnetic field application time by using the fact that the moving speed of the tip of a stripe domain depends upon the number of Bloch lines present at the top. CONSTITUTION:A pule current is supplied to a conductor pattern 9 and the stripe domain tip part is led to a readout part. Then vertical Bloch lines VBL at the tip part move to a side wall because of a gyro force. Consequently, no VBL is present at the tip part and the moving speed of the side wall is held high. Then while a domain is already expanded, the VBLs are stabilized at a tip part 5''' through the mutual operation with an in-surface magnetic field Hipo. A tip 6 with a VBL couple, on the other hand, moves only to 6'. This results from that an in-surface magnetic field component based upon the current of a conductor pattern 9 for stretching the domain operates in a direction where the center VBL among three VBLs at the tip 6 is held at the tip of the domain to be stretched to disturb the motion of the side wall, and only the tip 5 where no VBL atop crosses a conductor pattern 13 for domain cutting.
