A release binding for cross-country, downhill and telemark skiers. Owing to stronger plastics skis and new bindings which do not release in the event of a fall, etc., the number of injuries in cross-country skiing has increased and the type of injuries has worsened. Telemark skiing, which is now rapidly gaining ground, also increases the demands for release bindings for cross- country skiers too. The present invention relates to a release binding which protects the skier from injury and which is light, of small external dimensions and simple and cheap to make, which increases the chance of it being universally accepted by skiers. A welded-on steel ball 4 of the kind described is screwed on top of the ski 1. A binding top part 3, which is releasable in all directions and which can be used in combination with all types of existing ski bindings, encloses the steel ball and is held in place by a steel pin 5 and a compression spring 6, the spring force of which is adjustable by means of a tensioning screw 7 and locking nut 8. <IMAGE> |
