PURPOSE:To obtain the logarithm value with high accuracy via a computer having no package nor firmware by converting a logarithmic formula into an exponent function form and performing the logarithmic calculation by the computer with use of the power multiplication only. CONSTITUTION:A common logarithmic formula X=log10 (X: an unknown logarithm, Y: a known antilogarithm, 10: a base) is converted into Y=aX. Then the numerical value is substituted for X in reverse operation with only the power multiplication based on a shown sequence flow chart. At the same time, a pincer attack approximation method is applied to narrow the range of X and the multiplication is carried on to secure approximation to the known Y. Thus the value of X is obtained. In such a way, the value of a common logarithm is obtained. In this connection, even a natural logarithm having a base (e), for example, is also obtained from the relation of logeY=e.log10Y (e 2.30258509). Furthermore a logarithm having a general base is also obtained in the same way.
