PURPOSE:To eliminate the possibility of falsification by forming a magnetic card in such a manner that one of the magnetic layers thereof extends within the same plane and is parted to two recording and reproducing regions. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer 2 is extended and provided atop a card substrate 1. The magnetic layer 2 is parted to the three recording and reproducing regions 23-25. The format F1 intrinsic to the magnetic card is recorded in the recording and reproducing region 25, price information A in the recording and reproducing region 24 and the numerical value B relating to the width and position P of the recording and reproducing region 24 as the physical information intrinsic to the magnetic card in the recording and reproducing region 23, respectively. The verification information C calculated by functions F (A, B, F1) with the format information F1, the physical information B, and the fare information A as variables is recorded in another part of the region 23. The falsification is thereby no longer permitted unless the physical information B, the format information F1 as well as the functions (A, B, B1) are known even if only the price information A is rewritten.
