PURPOSE:To correct the resistance value of each of the heat generating elements constituting a heat generating element group effective for printing to a predetermined range with good accuracy, by providing the heat generating element group for investigating a trimming characteristic capable of measuring a resistance value change characteristic in a head. CONSTITUTION:A heat generating element group 8 for investigating a trimming characteristic is used to measure a resistance value change characteristic such as power to be applied and a resistance value change rate or the number of applied pulses and the resistance value change rate. Since the resistance value change characteristic is widely varied according to heat generating elements even in a head, measurment is performed at least on both sides of a heat generating element group 7 effective for printing. On the basis of this resistance change characteristic, the difference between the initial value of each resistance value of the heat generating element group 7 and an objective value is multiplied by power to be applied or the number of applied pulses to correct the resistance value. Since the heat generating element group 8 for investigating the trimming characteristic capable of measuring the resistance value change characteristic at every head is provided, even when the resistance value change characteristic of each heat generating element generated by the difference in a printing or baking condition changes, the resistance value can be corrected to a predetermined range of an objective resistance value with good accuracy. |
