PURPOSE:To correct the distortion of a lens to be corrected in a short time with high accuracy by scanning the lens to be corrected at specific pitch and calculating a distortion correcting function from the quantity of deviation between an ideal scanning position and a detected position. CONSTITUTION:An X-Y pulse table 72 is driven through a table controller and when a coincidence is obtained, a camera controller 73 outputs a stop signal to the table controller 75 and a positioning end signal to a digital arithmetic processor 76. Further, when an encoder pulse found from the movement quantity of the pulse table is inputted from the table controller 75 to the digital arithmetic processor 76, the digital arithmetic processor 76 calculates the correcting function. Then the found distortion correcting function is stored in a memory. When laser working is carried out, a focusing point position detecting means (CCD camera) at a focusing position is removed and a work is set; and the value obtained by multiplying the distortion correcting function by the command signals of X and Y scanners is inputted too the X and Y scanners to perform scanning. Consequently, the adjustment time is shortened.
