PURPOSE:To easily store and retrieve code information and picture information by adding different identification information to them and storing them in an optical storage means when the picture information or the code information being as the information to be retrieved is inputted. CONSTITUTION:A retrieval title T and the picture information on the optical disk are associated at the rate of one to one based on a picture number Pn stored on the retrieval title T and the picture information recorded on a picture information table PT. Therefore when the retrieval title is recognized, the picture information on the optical disk can be retrieved. So that, an identification code CI is provided in the retrieval title T and the identification code CI is set to be the code information when it is '1' and the picture information when it is '0'. Thus the identification can be executed by a CPU and an operator does not need to be conscious whether the information to be retrieved is the code information or the picture information. As the result, the retrieval, etc., can be easily executed.
