The liquid to be filtered is admitted under pressure into a lower storage vessel 4 comprising a bed of filter material 5; a pipe 6 ensures the flow of the filtered liquid into an upper storage vessel 7 integrally attached to a discharge pipe 8, 10 comprising a free air connection 9, 14.
