Phenoxypyridylmethyl esters (I) are prepd. by reacting carboxylic acid of formula RCOOH and its reactive derivs. with phenoxypyridyl alcohol e.g. 6-phenoxy-2-pyridyl methanol and its reactive derivs. in the presence of acid acceptor i.e. alk. metal carbonate and alcoholate, catalyst i.e. benzyl-triethyl-ammoniumbisulfate, Aliquat 336 and diluents (inert org. solvent) i.e. pentane, hexane, ethers, ketones, amides, etc., if necessary, at 0-100 deg.C esp. 0-50 deg.C. R1 is H or opt. substd. C1-4 alkyl; R2 and R3 are same or not, are H or halogen.
