A propelling pencil comprises (i) a pipe for receiving pencil lead axially slidably in an outer cylinder, (ii) a lead chuck (6) for fastening a pipe for receiving pencil at an front end portion of this pipe, (iii) a sleeve surrounding a head portion of lead chuck, (iv) a fastening spring into contact with the lead chuck and sleeve, which has a low elastic coefficient, (v) a cushion spring in contact with a sleeve, (vi) the secondary spring axially slidable in front end portion of lead chuck, (vii) a slider movable forwardly by the secondary spring.
