PURPOSE:To develop the activity of the catalyst used in preparing fuel gas to a max. degree, by supporting a catalytically active metal by a carrier of which the pore volume of a macro-pore having a specific pore size occupies in a specific ratio or more on the basis of the total pore volume. CONSTITUTION:A catalytically active metal (e.g., Pt) is supported by a carrier (e.g., SiO2) of which the pore volume of a macro-pore having a pore size of 100-10,000Angstrom occupies 40% or more on the basis of the total pore volume. In this case, the total pore volume of the carrier is pref. adjusted to about 0.6- 1.5cc/g. In using this catalyst, the necessary amount of the catalyst metal to be supported is reduced to a large extent because the diffusion speed of reactive substance in the pores of the catalyst is remarkably increased. In addition, when the supported metal amount is equal, the deterioration speed of the catalyst is lowered to a large extent. |
