The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a hollow article, especially a cushion, whose shape and hardness can be adjusted. This method consists in producing an impervious casing 1 made of a flexible material, provided with an orifice, in filling the said casing with a polymerisable mixture and in allowing the said mixture to polymerise so as to obtain a compressible cellular material 6 and, finally, in closing off the orifice of the casing 1 by means of a bidirectional valve 3. This invention extends to cushions which can be produced by implementing this method. <IMAGE>
