CONTINUOUS ELECTROPLATING APPARATUS CONTAINING MOLTEN SALT

PURPOSE:To keep the temp. of a molten salt plating bath proper and to recover and utilize electric power necessary for plating by installing a generator for generating vapor of a heat medium, a waste heat recovering unit connected to the generator, etc., in a line for regulating the temp. of the molten salt in a plating cell. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with the progress of electroplating of a steel strip 1, part of a molten salt plating bath in a plating cell 2 is introduced into a boiler 10 in electric power generating facilities 7 in which cooling and waste heat recovery are carried out. The molten salt introduced into the boiler 10 is brought into indirect contact with a liq. heat medium to evaporate the heat medium. Heat corresponding to the latent heat of evaporation is lost from the molten salt and the molten salt is returned to the plating cell 2. Vapor of the heat medium generated in the boiler 10 is subjected to isoentropic expansion in a turbine 12 to generate electric power with a generator 16 and the vapor is returned to the boiler 10 through a condenser 11. The generated electric power is supplied to an electric circuit composed essentially of a transformer 17 and a rectifier 18 and the power is utilized to carry out electroplating.
