In order to produce a hand-held unit for testing telecommunications line systems, in particular of the ISDN type, by means of which individual processes can be simulated and tested, it is proposed that interface components (SST) in modular form, a microprocessor ( mu P) together with a memory (2), a talk-listen component (3), a ringing mechanism together with a connection device (4), and an internal control component (6) be disposed in the unit (17), the control component (6) being connected to a dialling keypad (10), to electrical or electronic display means (8), to control keys (9), to the ringing mechanism (4) together with the connection device and to the microprocessor ( mu P) and its memory (2), one of the interface components (SST) furthermore being inserted in each case between a connection plug (1) and the internal control component (6). <IMAGE>
