A method of enhancing insulin sensitivity in mammals (e.g. humans) is described. The method is based on the use of aldose reductase inhibitors to restore and preserve intracellular reduced glutathione levels, thereby enhancing the formation of insulin receptor-mixed disulfide bonds. |
