PURPOSE:To obtain smooth flat torque in the entire revolving range by constituting a collecting pipe consisting of a plurality of exhaust pipes in such a manner that the collecting form of a plurality of exhaust pipes can be switched at one's option into two types: 180 deg. collection and 360 deg. collection. CONSTITUTION:The tail parts of four exhaust pipes 1 to 4 extending from the exhaust port for each cylinder of an in-line 4-cycle engine are connected to a collecting pipe 5. This collecting pipe 5 consists of two parts: a 4-2 collecting part of a large diameter located in the forward part and a 2-1 collecting part of a small diameter located in the afterward part. The inside of the 4-2 collecting part 6 is partitioned into two chambers by means of a plate-shaped separator 9 installed in the fore-and-aft direction. By turning this separator 9 around the central revolving shaft, two types of combinations; or combination of the exhaust pipes l & 2 and 3 & 4, in which crank phase angles differ from each other by 180 deg., and combination of the exhaust pipes 1 & 4 and 2 & 3. in which crank phase angles differ by 360 deg.; can be selected at will.
