METHOD FOR ESTABLISHING LINK BETWEEN ON-VEHICLE ELECTRONIC CONTROLLER AND TESTING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To test the whole system and to prevent the system from malfunctioning by employing a testing method which uses a link establishing method and allowing an electronic controller from entering a test mode only when special processing at the start is performed. CONSTITUTION:A testing device 20 which tests the operation of the electronic controller 10 to be inspected that constitutes part of the control system mounted on an automobile is connected to the electronic controller 10 through two serial transmission lines for transmission and reception so as to send and receive data to and from the electronic controller 10, which is provided with the special operation mode for the test. Plural data are sent from the electronic controller 10 to the testing device 20 right after the electronic controller 10 is powered on and allowed to enter the special operation mode only when receiving the plural specific data from the testing device 20 within a prescribed time, thereby establishing a mutual link.
