Device for generating a swirl in the intake flow of turbo-machines, especially of wind turbines, passenger motor vehicle exhaust turbochargers and aircraft engine compressors, for control and regulation purposes. A swivellable plate-shaped vane is arranged in front of the rotor of the turbo-machine, the swivel axis of the vane running at least approximately perpendicular to the rotor axis and intersecting this or crossing it with a small lateral interval. The surface of the vane has an asymmetrical, unilaterally swept-back shape, whilst the vane length transversely to the direction of flow is at least half as large as the inlet diameter of the rotor and extends from the rotor axis or from its projection into the vane plane on both sides.
