Reversible drive by means of which a gentle, sinusoidal change in direction is achieved by mechanical means in combination with an adjustable travel, by virtue of the fact that a slide is guided in a chain drive and the direction reversal is achieved by means of levers and cams. In order to be able to adjust the travel, the change is relaxed and the direction reversal sprockets are adjusted to the desired length of travel.
