METHOD FOR READING OUT HIGH DENSITY RECORD OF ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To enable higher density recording of information at ordinary temp. than the density of recording on an optical disk by radiating converged electron beams and detecting Auger electrons generated from an element B so as to read out a record. CONSTITUTION:An atomic layer of an element B for recording or an element B implanted layer 2 is formed on a substrate 1 made of a compd. C not contg. the element B or an element A other than the element B to carry out recording. When the substrate is scanned with electron beams 3, Auger electrons 4 of the elements B and A (or a constituent element of the compd. C) are emitted from the surface of the substrate. The presence or absence of the element B on the scanned surface can be judged by checking the presence of Auger electrons from the element B with an energy analyzer 5. Since Auger electrons are identified to check the presence of a record and to read out the contents of the record, density higher than the density on an optical disk and close to that on PHB can be attained.
