PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of a power source, by using an element having self-interrupting capacity, for a switching element, and by turning the element OFF before a following saturable reactor is saturated. CONSTITUTION:A pulse generating circuit is provided with a DC power source 11, a resistor 12, a capacitor 14, a diode 15, a transformer 16, and a capacitor 17 and a saturable reactor 18 on the secondary side, and current is fed to a load 19. In this case, a switching element(GTO or the like)21 having self- interrupting capacity is used, and the capacity of the capacitor 14 is selected to be larger than that of the capacitor 17. Before said saturable reactor 18 is saturated, said switching element 21 is turned OFF and desired pulse is contrived to be obtained. Then, the load inflow of unnecessary electric charge is prevented from being generated and the efficiency of a power source is enhanced, and desired load current can be obtained.
